White Water Lodge offers over
1000 acres of pristine nature for guests to explore and enjoy.
For fauna and bird watching enthusiasts it is a paradise. The
mountains are covered with Fynbos (protea) flowers. These
species, indigenous to the Western Cape, thrive in our wonderful
microclimate and are prolific in their diversity of form,
colour, fragrance and size. There are easy walks in the
mountains to enjoy them.
For the more energetic there are hikes up the mountains to a
wide diversity of geological structures, pinnacles and original
San (indigenous people of the area) caves.
There are also Quad Bikes at the lodge for those who prefer exploring on wheels. We have 6 Quad Bikes and a Guide Quad. A one hour guided ride is R280 per person.
We have 6 mountain bikes ranging in size from small to extra large for the use of our guests - an ideal way to explore the estate!
The lower wetlands and wild flowers attract a myriad of
indigenous birds: African Fish Eagles, Blue Cranes, various
types of Cape Pheasant (Francolins), Blue Helmeted Guinea Fowl,
wild Ducks and Geese and the elegant Secretary bird. Amongst
others are various Kingfishers, as well as the more rare Cape
Rock Jumper, Sentinel, Rock Thrush and Cape Rock Thrush - a bird
watchers delight.
A walk or picnic under the Oak trees on the Klein River is an
experience of peace and tranquility broken only by the sounds of
babbling water and bird calls.
A number of our wild four legged friends may be seen roaming on
the estate. Rhebuck, Duiker, Fallow Deer, Rock Dassies, Cape
Clawless Otter, Caracal (Cape Lynx), Cape Leopard, Baboons and
others have been spotted.
You can also enjoy seeing South Africa's national animal, the Springbok, roaming in our game camp.
For those wish to just relax there is our twenty (20) meter pool
as well as many serene spots in the gardens or
river where you can enjoy a good book or treasure a
quiet moment with nature.
